Creating a New Call Park

Follow this guide to create a new Call Park.

The best way to explain a call park is by referencing an actual vehicle parking lot at a shopping mall.

Vehicles can be parked here for a time period whilst the driver is busy shopping. After shopping, the driver simply returns to the parking lot and continues driving.

So in our terms:

  • A call is answered (driving/in call)

  • A call is placed in a Call Park (parking lot)

  • The user that accepted the call takes an action such as asking a colleague for some assistance (shopping )

  • The call is retrieved from the Call Park (driving/in call)

A call in a call park, however, can be retrieved by any user and not only the user that placed the call in the call park.

[Imagine any shopper being able to retrieve any vehicle from a parking lot.]

 

Creating a New Call Park

Navigate to Settings:

Click on Call Park

Step 1: Add a Call Park

Click on the ADD button to create a new Call Park. This will display the below popup

Name

This is the name of the Call Park you are creating. If you have more than one Call Park, choose a name that can be easily identified. E.g. Accounts Call Park

Timeout

Enter the amount of time a call can be parked here before being disconnected.

 

Setting this value to 0 (ZERO) will disable the timeout and the call will not be disconnected.

Click OK to create the Call Park.

Step 2: Assign an extension number

Click on the ADD EXTENSION NUMBER button to assign an extension number. The popup below will be displayed:

Prefix

If you have more than one branch created, a branch prefix would need to be selected (See Creating Branches for more information about branches).

Extension Number

Create a 3 Digit Extension Number to assign to this call park.

 

Choose an extension number that is not already in use. See Adding a New Extension Number for more information on extensions.

Route Name

This dropdown will display a list of available Call Parks that have been created.

Click OK to create the Call Park extension. You should be able to view the created extension under the Numbers menu.
