Adding a New Extension Number

Extension numbers are short 3 digit numbers that can be used to dial internally within your organization.

For example: If you have two users in your organization you can assign an extension number to each user (User A: 101) and (User B:102). They will then be able to call each other by dialling 101 and 102 respectively without being charged for the call.

 

Adding a New Extension Number

Navigate to Settings:

Click on Numbers and select Add Extension Number:

The below popup screen will be displayed to create the new extension number.

The below options can be completed in the above popup screen to add a new extension number:

Prefix

This is the Branches that are available on your account(See ).

For example, every branch has a defined prefix (E.g. 10 for UK and 20 for US). You can select to create a new extension number in a specific branch.

 

You can have the same 3 digit extension number (E.g. 101) created in multiple branches. You can then use the Branch prefix to dial the different extensions. 10101 (UK) and 20101 (US) respectively.

The number 999 is reserved for checking voicemail messages.

Route Type

This is where the extension number should be routed to:

User: Routes calls to this extension number to the selected user.

Voicemail: Routes calls to this extension number to a Voicemail box of a specific user.

Call Group: Routes calls to this extension number to a Call Group (TO DO LINK)

Call Parking: Routes calls to this extension number to a Call Park (TO DO LINK)

Route Name

Depending on the selection made in Route Type above, you will have to select the route name you would like the call routed to.

Example: If you selected User, you will be presented with a list of users for selection.

Click OK to create the new extension. The created extension number will now be available in the list.

Note: You only have to enter the 3 Digit extension number. The branch prefix will be added to the number automatically. The number can be dialed using the 3 Digit (112) or 5 Digit (10112) extension number.
