Check for Packet Loss

Probably one of the most crucial elements to good quality calls are low to zero percent packet loss. We recommend using PingPlotter to assess packet loss and MOS Scores for the entire route.

Instructions

The below steps will take you through completing a trace-route using PingPlotter V5 to assess whether any packet loss are experienced.

  1. Download and Install PingPlotter V5.

  2. In the Target field enter sip.vltelcom.com.

  3. Click on the green Start icon to start running the test and let the test run for minimum of 30 minutes. It is important to note that this trace needs to run during times call quality issues are experienced.

  4. As soon as the test has completed running for 30 minutes, click on File → Save Image OR Navigate to File → Share → Share to Pingplotter

  5. Share this image or URL with us here and we’ll review the information to provide you with a list of potential problems and possible solutions.
